Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate in the 2023 election, visited the Madarasatul Hidayyatul Auladi Muslimima Almajiri school in Kawo, Kaduna State, yesterday.
Taking to his X handle today, Obi shared his experience on the visit and expressed his desire to identify with critical institutions for human development in the country.
During the visit, Obi interacted with leaders from similar facilities, representing the various local government areas in Kaduna State. He also spent time immersing himself in Quranic learning alongside the young people. Witnessing the students’ enthusiasm for Quranic education, Obi reaffirmed his belief in the untapped potential within these young students, who are fluent in Arabic reading and writing.
Obi envisions a future where these students would become professors, doctors, lawyers, economists, captains of industries, and competent political leaders. He believes that with an educational approach that brings formal schooling directly to them on-site, these students can excel in various fields, from medicine and architecture to engineering, artificial intelligence, and beyond.
Obi’s vision for education transcends conventional boundaries, recognizing the immense value of cultivating diverse skills. He advocates for providing qualified teachers in English language, mathematics, social studies, environmental sciences, and Quranic Arabic studies, amongst other skills. With these methods and other approaches that go beyond conventional educational learning, Obi aims to pull millions of out-of-school children into the educational system, transforming society.
To further support his advocacy, Obi donated N10 million to the Almajiri school towards their educational expenses. He urged fellow leaders to join him in this noble cause, ensuring that they eliminate the scourge of out-of-school children and empower quality education for all.
