Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has publicly endorsed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidates ahead of the upcoming bye-elections scheduled for August 16 across 16 states in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Obi explained that the endorsement comes as a strategic decision due to the Labour Party’s internal crisis, which has left the party without officially recognized candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“As the Labour Party currently has no recognized candidates in these elections due to internal conflicts, I humbly urge every member of the Obidient and COPDEM communities to support and vote for the coalition political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their respective constituencies,” Obi said.

The bye-elections will cover two Senatorial seats, five Federal House of Representatives positions, and nine State Assembly seats across the country.

Obi concluded by reaffirming his commitment to Nigeria’s democratic journey: “The struggle for Nigeria has started.”
