The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has commended Ahmed Dankade and Kelechi Ndukwe for their exemplary integrity and outstanding achievements, respectively.
In separate statements, Obi expressed his gratitude to both individuals for bringing honor to Nigeria on the international stage.
Ahmed Dankade’s Act of Integrity
Obi highlighted the remarkable gesture of Ahmed Dankade, an employee of a handling company at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, who returned $10,000 he found while cleaning an aircraft. This act of honesty, especially in the face of harsh economic conditions, was praised by Obi as a demonstration of nobility and integrity.
“I am sincerely delighted by the story of a young Nigerian, Auwalu Ahmed Dankade, who chose the path of honesty despite the economic challenges,” Obi said. “Such a display of integrity demands commendation. Nigerians like him always deserve to be celebrated as examples of honesty to the youths and us the leaders.”
Kelechi Ndukwe’s Promotion in the US Navy
Obi also celebrated the promotion of Kelechi Ndukwe to the rank of Captain in the US Navy. Ndukwe, who is now the first Nigerian to command a US Navy warship, was lauded for his determination, resilience, and strength of character.
“The delightful news of Kelechi Ndukwe’s promotion reinforces my belief that every Nigerian, irrespective of tribe or religion, can attain great heights with the right support,” Obi stated. “Ndukwe’s story serves as a reference point for hard work and determination. It inspires us to commit sincerely to the development of our nation by investing in education, health, and poverty reduction.”
Call to Action for Leaders and Youths
Obi encouraged Nigerian youths to emulate Ndukwe’s example and shun tribal and ethnic hate. He emphasized the need for leaders to create a conducive environment for youths to grow and excel globally.
“To us the leaders, Ndukwe’s story should inspire us to build a nation where our many talented youths can thrive and excel. This we can achieve by investing aggressively in education, health, and pulling people out of poverty,” Obi said. “I sincerely congratulate Kelechi Ndukwe on this admirable feat which has again brought honor to our nation. I wish him greater heights in service, even as he contributes to the development of our nation.”
