Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has paid glowing tribute to Professor Christina Chinwe Achebe, the esteemed educator and wife of legendary Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe, as she marks her 90th birthday.
In a heartfelt message shared via his official Facebook page on Saturday, Obi described Professor Achebe as a woman of great distinction whose contributions to education and scholarship have left an indelible mark on generations of students and scholars.
“On this joyful occasion of your 90th birthday, I join your family, friends, and admirers across the world in celebrating a life of purpose and distinction,” Obi wrote.
Obi highlighted Prof. Achebe’s academic journey, which spans decades and institutions across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States. From her early days at Queen’s College, Lagos, to her studies at the University of London, and her work at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, he described her trajectory as one that continues to inspire.
