Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate in the 2023 Nigerian elections, has been recognized as a prominent political icon of democracy.

The honor was bestowed upon him by the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) during their National Convention in Abuja.

Peter Ameh, the National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), represented Peter Obi at the event and accepted the award on his behalf. In his acceptance speech, Ameh emphasized that the award represents the belief of Nigerians who saw sincerity and integrity in Peter Obi during the 2023 elections. He also highlighted the negative impact of government wastage on the nation’s cost of living and security challenges.

The organizers of the event described the award as a tribute to the Champions of Democracy, individuals whose unwavering dedication has given hope for a brighter future for Nigeria. COPDEM, an independent political action group, was established by patriotic Nigerians driven by a shared desire to contribute to the nation’s progress.
