Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has once again demonstrated his dedication to critical areas of development—healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation—through a series of impactful initiatives.
In a statement shared via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Obi revealed his visit to Our Lady of Lourdes College of Nursing Sciences in Ihiala, where he assessed the progress of the institution. Reflecting on his ongoing contributions, he expressed satisfaction with the results of his previous ₦20 million donation. Further affirming his commitment, he made an additional donation of ₦10 million during the visit, promising continued support for the college’s vital work.
Following this, Obi visited the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital in Oraifite, a world-class medical facility specializing in cardiovascular care. The hospital, built by the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation in collaboration with the VOOM Foundation, has made significant strides in life-saving procedures. Obi was notably impressed to learn that the hospital had successfully completed 117 open-heart surgeries, 2 vascular surgeries, and 10 interventional cardiology procedures.
These milestones, Obi stated, represent a significant contribution to healthcare improvement and highlight the potential for a healthier, more prosperous Nigeria. He expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of Sir Emeka Okwuosa and the VOOM Foundation, recognizing their dedication to saving lives and uplifting society.
“Together, we can build a better society where the needs of children, the vulnerable, and the underprivileged are met,” Obi emphasized. He reiterated his vision for a new Nigeria, where collective effort and sacrifice will pave the way for sustainable development.
