Peter Obi, the presidential hopeful representing the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, embarked on a nationwide tour, reaching the historic city of Kano.

Here, he and his team engaged in a series of impactful activities aimed at fostering education, community development, and cultural exchange.

Their journey commenced with an invitation from the esteemed Proprietor of Skyline University Kano, a trailblazing privately-owned educational institution in the city. This visit underscored the pivotal role of private sector investment in education and emphasized the potential for collaboration among private institutions to bolster access to quality education within the region.

During his time at the university, Obi urged citizens to reconsider the practice of sending their children abroad for education at exorbitant costs, advocating instead for local institutions like Skyline University, Baze University, among others.

Continuing their mission of service, Obi’s team proceeded to commission a borehole in Dandalin, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State, providing essential access to clean water for the community, alongside extending financial assistance to approximately 100 individuals in need, reaffirming their dedication to uplifting the underprivileged.

Further demonstrating their commitment to community engagement, they joined Muslim worshippers at the Alansar Juma’at Mosque, Fagge, providing food for over 1000 people and partaking in the breaking of the fast during the holy month of Ramadan. These communal activities underscored their respect for the religious and cultural traditions of the region and showcased their readiness to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

In summary, Obi’s visit to Kano during the sacred month of Ramadan was marked by acts of service, collaboration, and mutual respect, contributing to the ongoing narrative of positive change and unity across Nigeria. As they witness and embrace the vibrant diversity of the nation, they are reaffirmed in their belief that a new Nigeria, built on these principles, is indeed achievable.
