The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, has resigned from his position following an impeachment notice issued by the Kano State House of Assembly.

The announcement was made on Friday in a statement signed by Dr Habibu Saleh Mohammed, spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, and addressed to the people of Kano State.

According to the statement, the decision to step down was not easy, but it was taken in the best interest of the state, with a focus on maintaining stability and ensuring smooth governance.

It explained that recent developments had made it difficult for the deputy governor to fully carry out the duties and enjoy the benefits of his office. Because of this, he chose to step aside so the office can function properly and serve the public effectively.

The statement made it clear that his resignation should not be seen as an admission of any wrongdoing. It stressed that the deputy governor still believes in his innocence and stands by his record in public service, which he says reflects his integrity and dedication to the people.

It added that his decision shows leadership, maturity, and a desire to avoid unnecessary political tension that could slow down governance and development in the state.

Looking ahead, Gwarzo plans to focus more on the Kwankwasiyya Movement. He aims to strengthen its structure, rethink its strategies, and take part in key political planning as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections. The goal, the statement said, is to promote leadership that puts people first, supports fairness, and encourages long-term development.

Supporters of the movement and residents of Kano State were urged to remain calm, obey the law, and continue supporting good governance and democratic values.

The statement concluded by saying more information will be shared soon.
