In a decisive operation conducted on March 7, security forces comprising troops from Operation Udo Ka, the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) successfully eliminated 20 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The operation took place in Mother Valley, Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
According to Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, the joint team meticulously cleared approximately 50 hideout tents used by the terrorists. These hideouts included the notorious Supreme Headquarters, the Command and Control Centre, and the Military Council Headquarters of the IPOB/ESN.
The terrorists had ingeniously concealed their bases with foliage, evading air surveillance and detection. The valley provided ample power supply for their camps, where they hibernated, tended to animals, and maintained self-sustaining farms. During the operation, troops encountered command IEDs and ditches strategically placed along the axis to the camp, all of which were safely neutralized.
This significant operation underscores the commitment of security forces in safeguarding peace and stability in the region.
