Musa advocates for increased salaries and barrack infrastructure to boost soldier morale
In an exclusive interview on Channels TV, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has shed light on the financial challenges faced by military personnel, emphasizing that soldiers receive a monthly salary of less than N50,000.
General Musa, who revealed that he, along with other officers irrespective of rank, receives a daily operation allowance of N1,200, urged for a significant salary hike to reflect the invaluable contributions of soldiers.
Addressing the pressing need for improved living conditions, General Musa highlighted the shortage of barracks despite an influx of over 15,000 recruits in recent years.
He stressed the importance of not only recruiting more personnel but also investing in the construction and renovation of barracks to ensure every officer and soldier has adequate accommodation.
The CDS expressed concern over the strain on existing barracks due to ongoing operations, emphasizing the necessity for comprehensive measures to enhance the welfare and living standards of the armed forces.
