President Bola Tinubu has travelled from Lagos to Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of an official engagement in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The President is scheduled to participate in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) in January, following an invitation from the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The development was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is a week-long global forum that convenes leaders from government, business and civil society to shape strategies for sustainable development. The 2026 summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” will focus on translating ambition into action across innovation, finance and human development.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.

The presidency had earlier disclosed that the President would spend the end-of-year holidays in Lagos following a three-state tour that began on December 19. During the tour, Tinubu visited Borno State, where he commissioned projects executed by the state government and the Federal Government, and attended the wedding of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former governor Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.

He later travelled to Bauchi State to condole with the family of the late Islamic scholar and Tijjaniyya leader, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, who passed away on November 27. Tinubu then returned to Lagos, where he served as guest of honour at the Eyo Festival held on December 27 at Tafawa Balewa Square.

The cultural event honoured notable personalities, including the President’s mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, as well as former Lagos State governors Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Michael Otedola.
