A northern Islamic cleric Mallam Saleh Muhammad Jimeta has called for Allah to curse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his supporters during a Friday sermon to his congregation.

Jimeta described the president as a big unbeliever and a great infidel while noting that Tinubu is currently in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

He stated that people in Mecca do not know who Tinubu is and that if they did they would have chased him away because infidels are not allowed to enter Mecca. Jimeta repeated the call for curses on Tinubu and extended it to anyone who supports him.

The cleric then turned to remarks he attributed to Tinubu about Moses and Egypt. He said the president declared that Moses will never come back to Egypt and claimed Tinubu had made the same statement the previous week with his own mouth.

Jimeta questioned the meaning of the words and asked his congregation to consider who Moses is and what Egypt represents in that context.

He also brought in Tinubu’s wife Senator Remi Tinubu stating that she had said something similar before and that she was the one who taught him the line.

Jimeta claimed he had already given a response that sooner or later Moses shall return to Egypt for further liberation. He added that he thought Tinubu had not heard the response or else the president would have jumped up and been shaken.

Tinubu performed Umrah early on Friday morning in Makkah at the Grand Mosque. The presidency said the visit was for spiritual reflection devotion and prayers for Nigeria’s peace unity stability and continued progress.

After the rites Tinubu told journalists he was grateful to Allah and that the Umrah was significant for the love of the people commitment to the job and faith that there is no other God but Allah. The video of Jimeta’s sermon has circulated widely online since Sunday.
