President Bola Tinubu has ousted the Chief Executive Officers of two federal agencies, signaling a commitment to bolstering consumer protection and economic growth.

President Tinubu, through his spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, announced on Monday the immediate dismissal of Babatunde Irukera, the EVC/CEO of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), and Alexander Ayoola Okoh, the Director-General/CEO of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).

This strategic overhaul aligns with President Tinubu’s broader plan to reshape critical government agencies, safeguarding the rights of Nigerian consumers and fortifying institutions pivotal to economic development.

The two removed executives are instructed to hand over their responsibilities promptly to the next most senior officers within their respective agencies. This move precedes the imminent appointment of new Chief Executive Officers, reinforcing the commitment to swift and effective restructuring.

The President’s directive emphasizes the urgency of the changes, stating, “By this directive of the President, their removal from office takes immediate effect.” This bold step underscores President Tinubu’s dedication to fostering a dynamic and resilient foundation for the nation’s economy through impactful leadership changes.
