Former All Progressives Congress chieftain Timi Frank has accused senior officials in President Bola Tinubu administration of allegedly plotting to eliminate former Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai.
He said the claim was based on information from unnamed security sources.
Frank stated that El Rufai is currently being held by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission over corruption allegations linked to his time as governor. He also said the detention has raised concern after El Rufai family alleged that he has been denied access to food and medical care while in custody.
He called for the immediate release of El Rufai as well as other individuals facing similar cases, including businessman Tony Ayeni. He further accused some judicial officers of contributing to prolonged detention through strict bail conditions, warning that any harm involving the former governor would raise serious national concern.
Frank also claimed that Ayeni is being targeted due to perceived political links with opposition groups, despite earlier court rulings in his favor in cases brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
