Following Russia invasion of Ukraine, that have forced 1 million people fled out of the country including Nigerians and other Africa nationalities who have crossed borders for safety. 

Already, more than 2, 000 Nigerians have been received by Nigerian missions in countries like Slovakia, Romania, Poland, and Hungary.  

Their evacuation by the Federal Government is sequel to the ongoing crisis between Ukraine and the Russian Federation which is gaining international attention.

According to Officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had said that number of Nigerians in Ukraine are at about 5600. 

However, a total number of 596 first batch of evacuee, arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, from Romania and Poland as five thousand four people whereabout still unknown. 

But the Nigeria government has said that 2,000 Nigerians have been received from neighboring countries but yet to speak on the remaining 3600 Nigerians trapped at the ongoing war in Ukraine. 

NN News learnt that, Federal government will give the Nigerian returnees $100 each upon their arrival in Abuja; according to Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on Thursday evening disclosed this on her official Twitter handle.
