A security source and residents has said on Wednesday that gunmen have killed 19 security personnel, comprising 13 soldiers, five policemen and a vigilante, in a battle in the northwest Nigerian state of Kebbi.
However, the deputy governor, Samaila Dabai Yombe who also confirmed the incident narrowly escaped death in the ambush at Kanya, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
NN News learnt that the a police officer attached to the Deputy Governor was killed in the ambush.
