The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has received the Best Politician of the Year 2023 award at the Global Affairs Magazine Award (GAMA).

The event celebrated various individuals for their significant contributions in different fields.

Notable awardees included veteran actor Kanayo O Kanayo, reggae musician Orits Wiliki, and vocalist Yinka Davies for their contributions to Nigerian entertainment.

Arise News’ Rufai Oseni was honored as the ‘Most Courageous Television Host.’

Koffi Nuel, a popular comedian, and Daniel Olukoya, founder of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, received awards for their service to humanity.

The theme of the event was “A Channel of Hope Where There is Despair.”

Regina Robinson, the convener of GAMA, highlighted the event’s purpose to acknowledge individuals and organizations who have made impactful and selfless contributions, particularly in humanitarian areas.

Bala Abraham, chairman of Global Affairs Magazine, announced the launch of the GAM Foundation, committed to addressing the needs of the underprivileged in society.

Other awardees included entrepreneurs Dr Akintoye Akindele and Dr. Segun Musa, as well as Pastor Wale Adefarasin, Ebuwa Iguehon, Dr. John Ejezie, Rev. Ngozi Okorie, Eze Chika Nwokedi, Olawale Shittu, and former World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion Dr. Osita Offor.

Koffi Nuel expressed gratitude to the organizers and his family for their support. Wiliki appreciated the recognition during his lifetime and dedicated his award to his family.

The audience was treated to performances by Nigerian flutist, Tee Mac and Yinka Davies, adding a musical dimension to the celebration.
