Dr. Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, is planning to implement massive infrastructural projects in Aba, Abia State, with the aim of boosting economic activities.
He encourages businesses in Aba to emulate the Chinese and Japanese business models. Otti, leveraging his corporate governance experience, has proposed a budget of N567.24bn for 2024, naming it the ‘Budget of New Beginning,’ with 84% allocated to infrastructure spending.
The governor believes that investing over N476.48bn in infrastructure, particularly in Aba, will stimulate economic growth and attract both local and foreign direct investments.
He emphasizes the importance of fixing infrastructure in Aba to revive economic activities and generate revenue for further development in other parts of the state.
Otti signed the Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA) and Other Related Matters bill, establishing a specialized agency to oversee Aba’s development as the commercial hub of Abia and the entire South East Nigeria.
GADA’s role is to provide infrastructural, environmental, and social support to help Aba thrive and attract more businesses and investments. The governor envisions creating a special economic zone in Aba to unleash its full potential in various industries, including manufacturing and fashion.
