Summary: The Socio-Economic Right and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to reduce the proposed N15.961 billion budget allocated for travel in 2024.

Criticizing the allocation as unnecessary and not in the public interest, SERAP argues that Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and their aides should cut the extravagant spending.

The National Assembly is currently reviewing the 2024 Appropriation Bill, which includes allocations of N6.992 billion for Tinubu’s foreign trips, N638.535 million for domestic travel, and N1.847 billion for Vice President Shettima’s international and local travels.

The call for budget reduction comes in the wake of President Tinubu’s recent presentation of the 2024 appropriation bill to the National Assembly.
