In a X Spaces interaction on Sunday, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 Nigerian election, boldly proclaimed that he emerged victorious in the race. Despite the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declaring him as the third-place candidate, Obi stood firm in his assertion of victory.

NN News Media reports that Obi in his address, acknowledged the paradoxical nature of Nigeria, describing it as an uncommon place with uncommon people, where uncommon events transpire. According to him, the undeniable truth of his victory remains obscured, reflecting the unique circumstances prevalent in the country.

While expressing his aspirations for Nigeria, the former Anambra State Governor clarified that his desire is not driven by a desperate longing for the presidential position. Instead, Obi emphasized that his desperation is rooted in a sincere longing to witness Nigeria flourish.

Contrary to Obi’s declaration, NN News Media recalled that the official results from INEC placed him in the third position. The incumbent President, Bola Tinubu of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), secured the top spot, while the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claimed the second position in the 2023 presidential election.

Obi’s unwavering insistence on his victory adds an intriguing layer to the aftermath of the election, creating a narrative that challenges the conventional understanding of the electoral outcome.
