President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has allocated a whopping N100 billion to propel school feeding programs, aiming to revolutionize education in Nigeria.

The announcement, made during the signing of the 2024 appropriation bill, marks a significant step towards encouraging school attendance and combating the issue of out-of-school children.

Under the banner of the “Renewed Hope” budget, President Tinubu emphasized a strategic focus on reducing recurrent expenditure while amplifying capital expenditure. The N100 billion provision for school feeding is envisioned as a powerful catalyst to boost school enrollment and combat malnutrition among students.

During the unveiling of the budget, President Tinubu expressed his commitment to collaborative efforts with local governments at sub-national levels to ensure the effective implementation of this all-inclusive program.

This financial injection comes after President Tinubu’s directive in December to revive the school feeding program, transferring its oversight from the Humanitarian Ministry to the Education Ministry.

This revitalized school feeding initiative, once halted under former President Muhammadu Buhari, is now poised to make a remarkable comeback under the Education Ministry’s jurisdiction. Beyond providing nutritious meals, the program aims to create a positive impact on attendance and foster an environment conducive to enhanced learning.

President Tinubu’s visionary approach to education and his commitment to addressing societal challenges through strategic budget allocations is a testament to his dedication to building a brighter future for Nigeria’s youth. The N100 billion boost for school feeding programs is set to be a game-changer, heralding a new era of progress and optimism in the Nigerian education landscape.
