In a significant victory for peace and security, the troops of Operation UDO KA successfully prevented a kidnapping attempt in Umuaka, a locality within the Njaba district of Imo State, on Friday, May 17, 2024.

While conducting their routine patrol along the Orlu-Owerri road, the troops were alerted about a kidnapping incident and the potential escape route of the perpetrators. Acting swiftly on this information, as stated by Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Eromosele Unuakhalu, the troops pursued the kidnappers and engaged them.

Despite the kidnappers’ attempts to use innocent bystanders as shields, the troops managed to neutralize one kidnapper and injure two others in the ensuing firefight. The successful operation led to the recovery of an AK 47 rifle, two loaded magazines, and a motorcycle.

In a separate operation, the troops, in collaboration with operatives from the Naval Base, Oguta, neutralized an Eastern Security Network fighter in Amagberedere village, located in the Oguta district of Imo State. The troops conducted a raid on a suspected hideout, and despite coming under fire, they responded effectively, neutralizing one terrorist and recovering a pump-action shotgun along with two cartridges.

The Force Commander of JTF SE Operation UDO KA, Major General Hassan Dada, commended the residents of Umuaka and Oguta for their timely intelligence. He urged the public to continue providing information that could lead to the arrest of criminals terrorizing the peace-loving Ndigbos. He emphasized that any information of security value could be relayed to the military by dialing 193 and pressing number 2 for immediate intervention.
