Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, recently reinstated as Emir of Kano, calls on Nigerian youth to be courageous and proactive in reclaiming their country.

He emphasizes that no one, regardless of their position as president or governor, should intimidate them.

A video menitored by NN News Media, the Emir of Kano expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the severe lack of developmental goals, foresight, and nationalistic consciousness among Nigerian politicians.

He emphasized the importance of leadership that prioritizes national development over personal gain.

Reflecting on his previous removal from office, he remarked, “When the announcement was made that I had been removed for insubordination—you know, that word insubordination implies that someone superior is being defied. I have my record of service, my father had his, and my grandfather had his. We cannot be intimidated by anyone, whether they are a president or a governor. We must be able to speak truth to power.”

Sanusi further elaborated on his decision to stay out of politics, stating, “Had I entered politics, I might have been president or governor. But I chose not to, to maintain my integrity and independence. Nigerians must learn not to accept mediocrity and must move out of their comfort zones. If we don’t act now, our children will inherit a nation in ruins.”

He called for collective action to restore the nation’s vision and provide better opportunities for future generations. “We must hold those in politics accountable. It’s not comfortable, but it’s necessary. When competent people dislike you, it’s a badge of honor. We can’t be complacent in a dysfunctional environment.”

Addressing the youth, Sanusi urged, “This is your country and your future. Take ownership, work hard, and build it. Don’t let anyone convince you to leave for other countries because of a degree. This is your home, and it needs your dedication.”

He concluded with a rallying cry for all Nigerians to work together to build a nation that future generations can be proud of.
