Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has issued a stark warning to opposition party members defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He predicts that within a year, these defectors will deeply regret their decision.

Okonkwo’s remarks came in response to the recent defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his deputy Monday Onyeme, and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, along with key PDP stakeholders, to the APC. The mass defection, which included commissioners, took place on Wednesday.

In a post shared on 𝕏, Okonkwo criticized the defectors, accusing them of prioritizing personal gain over the welfare of Nigerians. He attributed their actions to a desire to evade accountability and secure “stomach infrastructure” at the expense of the nation’s economy.

Okonkwo further condemned the APC’s governance, describing it as riddled with incompetence and corruption. He warned that the administration’s misrule would exacerbate hunger and hardship for Nigerians, ultimately leading to widespread rejection of President Bola Tinubu’s government.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Okonkwo declared, “The contest will not be between political parties but between the APC and the Nigerian people.”
