Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has issued a passionate call to action, urging Nigerians to take ownership of their democratic power by registering and collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

In a statement shared via his X handle, Obi emphasized that the PVC is not just a card it is a symbol of hope, resistance, and transformation.

“Your PVC is the voice of the voiceless, the shield of the weak, and the weapon of the poor,” Obi declared. “It is the bridge to a New Nigeria.”

Obi implored citizens of all ages to organize, mobilize, and make election rigging difficult. He warned against the dangers of vote buying, describing it as a corrupt investment by politicians who seek to exploit public office for personal gain.

“Those who buy votes are not offering charity they are investing in corruption,” he said. “They steal from our schools, hospitals, and job opportunities. They are not leaders; they are criminals in disguise.”

He also condemned the act of selling votes, stating that it undermines the very future of the voters and their community.

“Selling your vote is selling your children’s education, your family’s healthcare, and your dignity,” Obi warned.

Calling on Nigerians to rise and take responsibility for shaping the country’s future, Obi stressed that the power to change Nigeria lies in the hands of the people. He urged voters to choose leaders with competence, character, capacity, and compassion leaders who prioritize the people over personal profit.

“Do not be intimidated. Do not be deceived. Do not be bought,” he said. “Nigeria belongs to the people, not to those who trade our future for selfish gain.”

Obi concluded with a rallying cry: “Register to vote, because a New Nigeria starts with you. A New Nigeria is POssible.
