Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has paid a visit to former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami in Abuja, shortly after Malami regained freedom on bail.

The visit happened about a day after Malami was released from custody following a court decision tied to his ongoing legal troubles.

Obi was said to have gone with members of the African Democratic Congress to personally show support during this difficult period.

According to party insiders, the visit was meant to encourage Malami over his recent encounters with security agencies, including the EFCC and DSS, as well as his ongoing court proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Malami is currently facing serious charges across two separate cases. These include allegations of terrorism financing, illegal possession of firearms, and a massive fraud and money laundering case said to involve about ₦8.7 billion.

Court hearings in the matter are still ongoing, with witnesses already presenting financial records and transaction details linked to companies associated with the former minister. The case has been adjourned for continuation at a later date.

Details of what Obi and Malami discussed during the visit were not made public, but the move has drawn attention as political and legal tensions continue to build around the case.
