Veteran politician Hakeem Baba Ahmed has accused President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of allegedly trying to influence judges through luxury multi billion naira mansions in Abuja.
Baba Ahmed made the claim during a live appearance on a daily politics television program, warning that using expensive properties to gain favorable court decisions could threaten justice and democracy in Nigeria.
He alleged that the move is linked to efforts to secure support ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying political interference with the judiciary could damage public trust in the courts.
The controversy comes as images from the opening of a major housing project in Abuja show officials unveiling newly built high end properties, highlighting the scale of the developments being discussed.
Baba Ahmed, who is known for his outspoken views on national issues, said the situation requires serious attention as concerns grow over political influence and the role of the judiciary.
The video of his comments has spread widely online, with many Nigerians calling for investigations into the allegations before the 2027 elections.
