Popular Anambra cleric Pastor Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere widely known as Odumeje has delivered a fiery sermon calling on Nigerian youths to unite and seize control of the nations destiny in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to his congregation in Onitsha the outspoken preacher insisted the coming polls will determine whether Nigeria remains the private property of politicians or finally belongs to all its citizens.
Odumeje urged young people to organise and demand a working government that listens to the people. He stressed that anyone entrusted with leadership must know how to speak to citizens with respect and accountability.
The pastor declared that public resources and borrowed funds belong to every Nigerian and future generations will carry the debt burden so leaders must give a full account of how the money is spent.
He launched a direct attack on those backing President Bola Tinubu accusing them of prioritising personal gain over the nations future. Odumeje alleged that supporters including governors and senators are selling the future of Nigerian children for money and private benefit.
He claimed anyone publicly singing the governments praises has been bribed and is acting out of self interest rather than patriotism.
The cleric referenced the presidents reported remark that hunger existed in Nigeria even before he was born. Odumeje said the statement revealed a lack of conscience and criticised politicians who twist such comments to defend the administration. He accused elected representatives of defending the remark instead of standing up for the people who sent them to office.
Odumeje warned that after their terms in power these politicians would simply take the wealth they had acquired for themselves and their families and leave the country abandoning the ordinary citizens they once called Nigerians. He argued that true leadership means developing the nation so that children and citizens benefit not enriching private families.
In a stark warning the pastor said if those in power have nothing meaningful to offer the people then the country should be divided. He emphasised that public office holders are only custodians of national resources not owners and must govern in the interest of all Nigerians rather than treating the nation like a personal business.
