Peter Obi the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress said President Tinubu’s government lacks the capacity to deal with Nigeria’s problems and does not have the energy required for the country so he must go home. He made the remarks at the NDC campaign council inauguration in Abuja on Monday.

Obi stated that Nigeria needs him to go home because the country cannot be governed by his energy. He said Nigeria needs a president who will be available and be there at any location in the country that has a problem. He added that we cannot be in government and 600 people will be kidnapped and taken into the bush while those in power stay away. Obi said his team would go into that bush with them.

The comments came after Tinubu launched his reelection campaign in Kaduna on Saturday and blamed the opposition for the hunger and poverty facing Nigerians instead of explaining what was done with the billions borrowed or what was achieved with the 2023 2024 and 2025 budgets. Obi responded that Tinubu created the poverty and must account for the money. He said the president has made history by producing the highest number of poor people according to recent reports with more than 140 million Nigerians or over 60 percent of the population living in multidimensional poverty and about 16 million more pushed into extreme poverty this year.

Obi also said Tinubu has spent over 266 days outside Nigeria in three years and has never slept in Bayelsa Anambra or Enugu. He accused the administration of lacking competence capacity compassion and the energy to govern. The NDC candidate who is running with Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso promised to focus on solving problems rather than blaming others. Senator Seriake Dickson chairs the national campaign council with Obi as co chairman. The party also unveiled its national secretariat in Jabi Abuja and presented certificates of return to candidates during the event.
