Elder statesman and Niger Delta chieftain, Chief Edwin Clark, has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for visiting London on health grounds without handing over to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, saying that he cannot run Nigeria from abroad.

Chief Clark made the remarks during a press conference in Abuja, insisting that President Buhari should not only hand over to Vice President Osinbajo, but that he ought to disclose to Nigerians the manner of illness he is suffering from.

“Buhari should tell Nigerians what disease he has,” he said, adding that Buhari should follow the Constitution and do what is necessary according to acceptable global standards.

Clark said: “Nigeria belongs to all of us, we are not running a banana State. Buhari is taking Nigerians for a ride.

“He doesn’t have the right to jet out to London without handing over power to the Vice President in line with the constitution.

“At 95 years old, my group has seen enough of this country for more than 70 years.

“Nigeria is bleeding and only God knows how much of taxpayers’ money must have been spent by the President on his health.

“It is arrogance for Buhari to think he can govern Nigeria from abroad. He should hand over power to Osinbajo.”

He, therefore, insisted that Nigerians should approach the Supreme Court to seek interpretation of the legitimacy of Buhari actions without telling Nigerians the details of his health status.
