Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Edo governorship election, confidently asserted that his rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo, will not receive a single vote in his home polling unit.

After casting his ballot at Unit 03, Ward 1, Uwessan in Esan Central Local Government Area, Okpebholo expressed strong confidence in his community’s support, stating, “PDP or whatever will not get one vote here because this is my home and my people love me.”

He praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its management of the election process, commenting, “What I’m seeing here is like a testimony that INEC is getting it right.” Regarding security, he downplayed concerns, saying, “I know that everything they are saying about security – this, that – is ‘hyping’. I mean nothing is happening. You can see! Nobody is fighting. No knockout, no stick of matches.”

Okpebholo added that attempts to disrupt the peace in Edo State had failed, attributing the calm to divine intervention. His party also reinforced his candidacy following false claims of disqualification from a magistrate court, which were labeled as “forgery and disinformation” by Felix Morka, APC’s National Publicity Secretary. Morka denounced the circulated ruling as a fabrication aimed at misleading voters, a claim later corroborated by a disclaimer from the magistrate’s court.
