Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has addressed the nature of his association with lawyer and politician, Daniel Bwala, affirming that Bwala served as a spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization rather than as his aide.

In a statement released on Tuesday via his media office, Atiku clarified that Bwala’s role was specific to the campaign and not as a personal aide. The statement emphasized the importance of accurately defining Bwala’s position to avoid misconceptions.

Highlighting Bwala’s contribution during the 2023 presidential campaign under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku urged the media and the public to acknowledge Bwala’s current endeavors and affiliations, rather than referencing him solely in connection with his past role.

“Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization spokesperson” was the official designation for Bwala during the campaign, which concluded with the termination of the need for a campaign spokesperson post-election. Atiku emphasized that Bwala has since moved on in his career.

The statement serves as a directive to refrain from identifying Bwala solely as a former aide of Atiku Abubakar but to recognize him based on his present engagements and alliances.

The clarification from Atiku comes amidst recent reports of Bwala expressing support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu within the All Progressives Congress (APC)
