The late Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife, Chizoba, and son, Chizi, were solemnly laid to rest in their hometown of Omueke, Isiokpo, Rivers State.

The private interment followed a poignant funeral service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Isiokpo, Ikwere Local Government Area of the state.

Wigwe, a distinguished banker and philanthropist, had left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s financial landscape. The week-long funeral rites celebrated not only his life but also his legacy as the founder of Wigwe University.

The funeral service, held today at 11:00 am, drew a gathering of friends, associates, and well-wishers from both local and international communities. Business leaders, captains of industry, and family members paid heartfelt tributes to the late banking guru during events held in Lagos.

Among the dignitary’s present were Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Governor Sim Fubara, a respected figure in Rivers State, Senate President Godswill, Olatunji Disu, Rivers Commissioner of Police, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, Former Minister of Transportation, Nyesom Wike: Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Aliko Dangote, renowned business magnate, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II: Former Emir of Kano, Governor Alex Otti, representing Abia State and Governor Dapo Abiodun from Ogun State.

Also in attendance were former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Governor Babajide Sawno-Olu of Lagos, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa, and Dr. Godknows Igali, a distinguished former Nigerian diplomat. The gathering paid their final respects to a man whose impact resonated far beyond the banking sector.
