President Bola Tinubu told residents of Kaduna that he came to campaign for his reelection and not to talk about hunger and poverty created by his opponents.

Tinubu made the remarks during the All Progressives Congress campaign flag off in Kaduna, where he addressed residents and called for support for a second term in office.

The president said his opponents had been talking about hunger and poverty but insisted that they were responsible for the problems.

I hear my opponents talking about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did, Tinubu said.

He stressed that his visit was focused on securing another term, rather than engaging in discussions about the economic hardship facing Nigerians.

Addressing young people, Tinubu promised that a second term would bring prosperity and urged them to trust his administration’s plans for the future.

To you, the children of our country, it is a promise of a second term, prosperity. You will not regret it, he said.

The president’s comments come amid ongoing public concerns about the cost of living, rising food prices and economic hardship across Nigeria.

His remarks placed the country’s economic challenges at the centre of the campaign event, as he blamed opposition parties for the problems and presented a second term under his leadership as a path towards prosperity.
