In a heartfelt statement issued on Friday, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Chukwuemeka Ezeife, the former Governor of Anambra State.

Ezeife, a dedicated Nigerian nationalist and advocate for good governance, breathed his last at the age of 85 on Thursday around 6 p.m. at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.

Obi, describing Ezeife as an exceptional patriot and elder statesman, highlighted the deceased’s unwavering commitment to democratic ideals and his pivotal role in advancing the nation’s governance.

The former Anambra governor reflected on Ezeife as a father figure whose wise counsel significantly influenced him positively.

In lamenting the loss, Obi emphasized that Nigeria has bid farewell to a great soul, stressing the need for Ezeife’s kind heart and wise counsel during the country’s challenging times.

He concluded by extending prayers for eternal rest to the departed and offering condolences to the grieving family, urging all who mourn to find the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
