Former presidential candidate of Labour Party in 2023 election Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday attended the burial of Hajia Aya Dada Yar’Adua, the mother of the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, in Katsina.

Atiku Abubakar arrived at the funeral in the company of Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua and other dignitaries. He expressed deep sorrow in his condolence message, stating, “I adopted Hajiya Dada as a mother. Her home was always a sanctuary, a place where she welcomed everyone with open arms.” Atiku described her as a “gem of inestimable value” and conveyed his profound condolences to the Yar’Adua family and their associates.

Peter Obi also paid his respects, highlighting the remarkable qualities of Hajia Dada’s late son, General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, who served as Chief of Staff at the Supreme Headquarters. Obi remarked on Hajia Dada’s dedication to her faith and offered condolences to the Yar’Adua family and the people of Katsina State.

Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory, also offered her condolences. She prayed for Hajia Dada’s eternal rest and comfort for her family during this difficult time. Kingibe emphasized Hajia Dada’s role as the foundational figure behind a leader who served the nation honorably, noting that her legacy would endure through her children and the many lives she touched.
