In his ongoing series of visits to institutions pivotal in aiding the underprivileged in society, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s potential presidential candidate for 2023, recently made a significant stop in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

His destination was the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul, a group renowned for its unwavering dedication to assisting the impoverished, abandoned, and vulnerable segments of society, particularly those afflicted by leprosy, across Nigeria and Africa.

During his visit, Obi toured the De Marillac Centre for Street Children in Diobu, Port Harcourt, a facility established by the Daughters of Charity to shelter and care for vulnerable children. Moved by their noble cause, Obi extended his support with a generous donation of N5 million.

In emphasizing the importance of securing a prosperous society, Obi stressed the critical need to safeguard the future of children, especially those vulnerable to the streets, by providing them with proper care and empowerment opportunities. He commended the Daughters of Charity for their tireless efforts in bettering society through their charitable initiatives.

Encouraging other philanthropic Nigerians and donor agencies to rally behind this noble cause, Obi highlighted the urgency of alleviating the escalating hardships faced by the populace. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to initiatives that positively impact society and drive national development forward.

Expressing his firm belief in the transformative power of investing in the lives of vulnerable children, Obi articulated his vision of creating a New Nigeria where every child, regardless of circumstance, can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
