Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, expressed his condolences via his social media handle.

He joined a multitude of mourners to bid farewell to an extraordinary patriot and a father figure to many, Chief Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Okwadike Igboukwu. Ezeife, the first civilian governor of the new Anambra State, was honored at a State Commendation and Thanksgiving Service in Awka.

Obi described Ezeife’s passing as a significant loss to the nation. Ezeife was a man who not only advocated for justice but also lived by it and consistently fought for it. He was dedicated to creating a Nigeria that is fair and caring, where every individual is treated equitably.

Ezeife was a Nigerian without tribal bias, who showed unwavering dedication to our nation’s progress and development. Obi fondly remembers the wise words, guidance, and encouragement he received from Ezeife. He believes that such fatherly advice is more necessary than ever, given the numerous challenges our nation currently faces.

Obi prays for God’s eternal rest for Ezeife and for the strength for his family and all of us to bear this irreplaceable loss. He also prays for God’s continued protection and blessings for Ezeife’s family.
