The suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, is slated to confront the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, January 9th.

This move comes in the wake of her suspension over an alleged N585 million cash transfer scandal.

President Bola Tinubu took decisive action on Monday morning by suspending Edu, pending the conclusion of investigations into the purported financial misconduct. The suspension reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency within its ranks.

Adding to the unfolding drama, Edu’s predecessor, Sadiya Farouq, found herself under the scrutiny of the EFCC on Monday. She faced questioning related to a separate N37.1 billion laundering allegation stemming from her tenure under former President Buhari.

As of Monday evening, around 6 pm, reports indicate that Farouq remained at the EFCC headquarters, intensifying the focus on high-profile investigations into financial irregularities within government ministries.
