Residents of Katsina State have reportedly begun dismantling billboards bearing the image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, just days after his official visit to the state.

The incident was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user Imran U. Wakili (PULLO) 👑 (@IU_Wakilii), who posted footage with the caption: “From Katsina State.”

Tinubu had visited Katsina for a stakeholder meeting to assess the state’s growing security challenges. Katsina, also the home state of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has seen a surge in banditry and kidnapping, making life increasingly unsafe for residents.

In addition to security concerns, many Nigerians have expressed deep frustration over the economic hardship that has worsened under Tinubu’s leadership. Following the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira, inflation has soared, the cost of living has risen sharply, and basic commodities have become unaffordable for many families. Unemployment remains high, while salaries stagnate—further fueling public resentment.

The billboard removal is being interpreted by some as a symbolic rejection of Tinubu’s leadership ahead of 2027 general election, especially in regions hit hardest by insecurity and economic distress.
