Members of the administration of President Donald Trump have issued a strong warning to the government of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu over ongoing violence, killings of Christians, and allegations of election manipulation in Nigeria.
The warning followed a private meeting involving victims of attacks and insecurity in Nigeria alongside political allies connected to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
A statement released by Von Batten-Montague-York on X said heartbreaking testimonies were shared during the meeting as victims described fear, violence, and worsening living conditions across Nigeria.
According to the statement, victims of the violence gave emotional firsthand accounts about the worsening security crisis across Nigeria.
The statement strongly criticized the administration Tinubu, accusing the government of failing to protect citizens from violence and economic hardship.
Its said that the official Tinubu government has brought Nigeria the giant of Africa to its knees. Nigerians among the most enterprising people on earth are now living in fear and struggling to afford basic necessities. The message further claimed that the United States is actively observing developments in Nigeria, gathering information, and documenting reports related to violence and alleged election manipulation.
Dr. Von Batten also warned that any official of Tinubu linked to murder, violence, or election rigging could face serious international consequences. According to the statement, assets, businesses, and financial holdings connected directly or indirectly to individuals accused of such actions could be targeted for sanctions or investigations.
