Comrade John Ushie, the chairman of the caretaker committee of the Labour Party in Cross River State, has announced the successful end of the internal crises that plagued the party at both the national and state levels.

Ushie, who previously served as the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Cross River, made this known during his formal presentation in Calabar. He expressed optimism about the party’s future, stating that it is now poised to win elections with integrity and without compromising the people’s mandate.

“Our great Labour Party has been in the spotlight recently, largely due to the disruptive actions of certain members at both the state and national levels,” Ushie remarked. “However, the good news is that we’ve put an end to these evil schemes. Every act of wrongdoing has an expiry date, and that date has arrived.”

Ushie reassured party members that hope remains strong and emphasized the need for immediate action to reposition the Labour Party. “Together, we can start winning elections without selling out the mandate of the people who have placed their trust in us,” he added.

Addressing the inefficiencies and divisive factors that plagued the party, he called for a new approach. “It’s time to prioritize the needs of the many over the interests of a few, moving past the issues of religious bias, fear of innovation, and general naivety.”

Comrade Ushie also affirmed the new leadership’s commitment to democratic principles, social justice, equity, progress, and inclusivity. He further clarified that the former leadership’s tenure had ended in June 2024, and urged stakeholders to seize the opportunity to sponsor credible candidates in the upcoming local government elections.

With this renewed direction, the Labour Party in Cross River is set for a fresh start, focused on the people’s welfare and democratic governance.
