The President-elect of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Pedro Obi, has addressed the controversy surrounding his election.

In an interview with PUNCH, Obi clarified that he is eligible to contest according to the NANS constitution, refuting claims that he is not qualified.

He accused his rival, Lucky Emonefe, the preferred candidate of Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, of being unqualified, stating that Lucky is not a known student in any Nigerian tertiary institution and lacks a degree. Obi challenged Lucky to provide his JAMB admission letter and degree result.

He highlighted the eligibility criteria outlined in the NANS constitution, emphasizing his own qualifications as a PhD student and past experience within NANS.

Obi criticized Lucky for lacking a track record within NANS and questioned the validity of Lucky’s claimed educational background.
