On the occasion of the International Day of Happiness, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has extended a message of positivity to all Nigerians.

The Force has encouraged everyone to embrace a “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” attitude, highlighting the significance of finding joy in the little things in life.

Through its X handle, the NPF has called upon Nigerians to spread happiness, strengthen community bonds, and cultivate positive relationships, all in the pursuit of a safer and more joyful world. A graphic shared on the same handle, captioned “Don’t worry, be happy,” echoed this sentiment.

The graphic’s message read, “On this International Day of Happiness, the NPF urges Nigerians to disseminate happiness, radiate joy, bolster community unity, and nurture positive relationships for a safer and more joyful world. A positive mindset and the capacity to find joy in the little things are crucial in the quest for happiness.”

The International Day of Happiness is commemorated annually on March 20.

In related news, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Police Force, responded to a comment by an X user who labeled the Nigeria Police Force as “useless.” In a post shared on the X platform, the user wrote, “Useless police force!”

In response, Adejobi clarified that the Police Force is not a useless entity but a reputable, dignified, responsible, and law-abiding institution. He advised the X user to direct their anger towards the erring officers rather than the entire organization, stating that it is disheartening when people denounce the entire security institution.

He wrote, “The Nigeria Police Force is not a useless organization. Direct your anger towards those who have wronged you (provided you are innocent too). We are noble, responsible, decent, and law-abiding individuals. Let’s focus on those who err, not the entire organization. It’s disheartening when people denounce the entire institution as if every police officer is bad and useless. Bad behavior is an individual trait, not a systemic one. If everyone is upright, honest, and dedicated, the system will function properly.”
