In a recent event in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasized the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the nation’s cultural diversity as a means to stimulate socio-economic advancement.

The occasion was the chieftaincy ceremony of the newly appointed Asiwaju of Ijebuland, Chief (Dr.) Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa, a renowned industrialist and philanthropist.

The President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, expressed his thoughts to an enthusiastic crowd at the Ijebu-Ode mini stadium. He was accompanied by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Touched by the vibrant cultural performances and festive environment, President Tinubu highlighted the uniqueness of the country and stressed the need for mutual understanding and coexistence.

Shettima, in his tribute to the Ijebu-Ode native entrepreneur, praised him for his hard work, perseverance, and ingenuity. He referred to Chief Adegunwa as a legend and one of Africa, Ijebuland, and Nigeria’s most distinguished sons.

Shettima also acknowledged Chief Adegunwa’s various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that have positively impacted the country. He expressed his admiration for Chief Adegunwa and his wife, Mrs. Fatima Adegunwa, and wished their leadership would bring peace, love, and progress to Ijebuland.

Earlier, Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State commended the Adegunwas, stating that they were well-deserving of the title of Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju/Arobake of Ijebuland. He praised their contributions to humanity and their lasting legacies.

Governor Abiodun lauded Baba Adegunwa’s business acumen and philanthropic activities, which have spanned over six decades. He expressed confidence that the new Asiwaju would use his vast experience to benefit the people of Ijebuland.
