Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration over its approach to subsidy removal reforms.

During an interview with News Central TV on Wednesday, Obi expressed his frustration, suggesting that if given the opportunity, Tinubu’s government might even go as far as removing a “subsidy on air” and charging Nigerians for it.

Obi urged the current administration to provide transparency regarding where the savings from subsidy removal are being allocated.

“I’ve said it before, we have to show what is being removed and where it is being applied. Right now, you don’t even know what the subsidy is today,” Obi stated.

He continued, “They are saying petrol subsidy is gone, electricity subsidy is gone. Soon, they might remove the subsidy on air. If they had the chance, they would charge us for air. We are not against reforms, but we demand to know where the funds are going.”
