The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to N970 per litre from N990 per litre. This change takes immediate effect for oil marketers.

In a statement issued by Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of the Dangote Group, the price adjustment is positioned as a gesture of gratitude to Nigerians.

“This is our way of appreciating the good people of Nigeria for their unwavering support in making the refinery a dream come true,” the statement said.

Since its inauguration earlier this year, the Dangote Refinery has been instrumental in advancing Nigeria’s goal of self-sufficiency in petroleum refining. Recognized as the largest single-train refinery globally, the facility has significantly boosted domestic production, reducing reliance on petrol imports.

Chiejina reaffirmed the refinery’s commitment to delivering environmentally friendly, high-quality, and sustainable products.

“We assure you of the best quality products that are environmentally friendly and sustainable,” he stated.

The statement also sought to reassure Nigerians about the refinery’s capacity to meet and exceed domestic fuel demands, dispelling fears of potential shortages.

“We are determined to keep ramping up production to meet and surpass our domestic fuel consumption, thus quelling any concerns about supply shortfalls,” Chiejina added.

The price reduction is expected to have a positive impact on the Nigerian economy, easing the financial pressure on consumers during a period of rising inflation.
