Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, shared a heartfelt condolence message on December 27, 2024.
“On behalf of my family and the Obidient movement, I extend my deepest condolences to Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, for the profound losses of his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi, and his son, Abdulwahab,” Obi stated.
He expressed his solidarity with Governor Namadi during this trying time, noting the profound pain of losing both a mother and a son within a short span. “The death of a loved one is always painful, but the sorrow of losing a mother and a son in such quick succession is indescribable,” he remarked.
Obi shared that he had initially planned to offer condolences for the passing of Hajiya Maryam when he was struck with the news of Abdulwahab’s tragic death in a motor accident.
He prayed for strength for the Governor and his family, asking for divine fortitude to bear these losses. “May Almighty Allah forgive their sins and grant them Aljanna Firdausi. May He continue to protect and bless the Namadi family,” Obi concluded.
