The Head of Media for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Diran Onifade, has refuted claims that the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, is in talks with former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Mr. Onifade made the emphatic statement in a press release made available to News Band late Wednesday in Abuja.

Recall that Alhaji Abubakar, in a bid to save his fast depleting followership, claimed that he is in talks with Peter Obi, as well as the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Reacting, however, Onifade stated emphatically that the claim is totally false and baseless as Peter Obi will not step down from a race in which he is the frontrunner.

He said: “We have been inundated with enquiries about the claim of an ongoing discussion between our Presidential ticket and the camp of PDP’s Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

“For emphasis, we wish to repeat, as we have said all day, that the claim is totally false and baseless.

“We are not in any talks with Atiku or anyone else with a view to stepping down from a race in which we are the frontrunner.

“Peter Obi is in the contest to win in consonance with the aspiration of majority of Nigerians who desire a New Nigeria devoid of lies, corruption and selfish scheming.”
