President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has urged governors across the country to allocate land for herders to graze on, aiming to mitigate the frequent clashes between herders and farmers.
Tinubu emphasized that this initiative would alleviate the loss of lives and farm produce resulting from these conflicts.
Speaking at the inauguration of the agricultural mechanization revolution for food security and the unveiling of the renovated domestic terminal at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna, Niger state, Tinubu also called on all governors to collaborate in eradicating hunger nationwide.
Addressing the gathering, Tinubu emphasized the importance of caring for the populace and reorienting farming practices, including livestock management. He envisioned a Nigeria where every schoolchild could be provided with a daily pint of milk if the dairy sector is effectively harnessed. Tinubu stressed the economic detriment of roaming cattle destroying crops and vegetation and proposed that proper provision for cattle rearing could solve this problem.
Asserting his commitment as President, Tinubu pledged to deliver a comprehensive program to address these challenges and eliminate hunger from the nation. He expressed his proactive approach to governance, emphasizing the need for action and resilience in steering the country towards prosperity.
Tinubu reassured the public of forthcoming initiatives, including the launch of a student loan program, unemployment benefits for graduates, and the commencement of a social security program for the elderly and vulnerable.
Regarding the airport renovation, Tinubu highlighted the transformation of the once dilapidated Minna International Airport into the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, a project previously plagued by neglect and infrastructure deficiencies. He commended the efforts of the state government in completing the renovation and acknowledged the significance of such infrastructure in shaping visitors’ perceptions of the country.
The airport commissioning ceremony was attended by dignitaries including governors from Lagos, Benue, Kwara, and Kogi states, as well as ministers and members of the National Assembly.
